Cornwall Apprenticeship Agency

Looking to grow and increase productivity? New skills and Apprenticeship solutions available...

A recent County-wide survey revealed that most SMEs in Cornwall experience problems engaging in skills support. Any business can now qualify for a free training plan review which specifically focuses on the skills needs of small businesses.

This new service aims to increase employer ownership of skills; thus helping drive enterprise, productivity and growth.

This opportunity is the result of an important new partnership with the Cornwall Apprenticeship Agency (CAA), with financial support for specialist skills advisors who can broker solutions that meet your workforce needs.

The CAA is a nationally-approved Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA), with funding from the UK Commission for Employment and Skills. Its provision is unique in that it specifically focuses on helping small businesses to grow. Should you wish to take on an Apprentice, the CAA can employ them on your behalf and administer the payroll, tax and National Insurance. The Agency handles the recruitment and interview process and brokers financial incentives and specialist training packages, allowing you to get on with day-to-day business.

Grants for employers of up to £2,275 can be made available to you per Apprentice and funded Apprenticeship training packages are designed specifically to suit the level and job role of each Apprentice that you employ.

Apprenticeships are a proven way to help businesses prosper. Some 80% of those who employ Apprentices agree that they increase productivity.

Already, a number of Cornish businesses are reporting positive results through the scheme. Fowey Harbour Commission, South West Lakes Trust, Primary PC Solutions and Seasalt have embraced the chance to expand and develop the skills of their workforce through the CAA’s service.
