Fresh Start in Cornwall - March 2005- September 2008 (Now Closed)

Fresh Start was a project piloted in Cornwall to support new entrants and progressive and retiring farmers throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to either establish new farm businesses or review their options for the future.  Run by the Cornwall Agri-food Council in partnership with Business Link and Duchy College and funded by the Objective One Programme Fresh Start offered practical help in the form of:-
  • Matchmaking service – linking new entrants to holdings or putting them in touch with existing farmers considering a joint venture
  • Mentoring – putting applicants in touch with people with good business experience to help and guide new businesses.
  • Training – helping to find the right training course to suit individual requirements
  • Retirement and succession planning – professional advice and guidance on matters relating to tenancies and taxation.
  • Loan Fund –  helping new entrants and tenants to get their new business started
  • Rural housing – putting you in touch with the appropriate organisations that will help you find somewhere affordable to live
